Privacy notice

RootBet ("we") runs rootbet.co.za. This notice explains what personal information we collect, why, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

• Details you give us when you join: first name, surname, mobile number and email address, and whether you confirmed you are 18 or older.
• Your game activity: predictions, spins, points, leagues you join and friends you invite.
• Messages you send through our contact form.
• Technical information: IP address and browser details, used to keep the site secure and prevent abuse. When you click a bookmaker link we record the link and the page it came from, using a code that changes daily and cannot identify you.

Why we use it

• To run the free games and leaderboards (only your first name and surname initial are ever shown publicly).
• To send you tips and bookmaker offers by SMS and email, only if you ticked the box to agree. You can opt out at any time.
• To contact prize winners, if prizes are offered, and to verify that they are eligible.
• To answer your messages, keep the site secure and understand which pages are useful.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with bookmakers. We use a hosting provider to run the site, and may use messaging providers to send the tips you agreed to receive. They may only use your information to provide that service to us.

How long we keep it

We keep your details while your account is active and for up to three years after your last activity, or longer where the law requires (for example, competition records). You can ask us to delete them sooner.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent to marketing at any time. Send us a request through our contact form and choose "Privacy or unsubscribe request". You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).

Your device

We store a sign-in code in your browser so the games remember you. We don't use advertising cookies. The bookmakers you visit through our links have their own privacy policies.

Age

RootBet is for adults only. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and will delete it if we learn we have.
